Annie Lee Dunlap was born on November 3, 1932, at Franklin County Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Texas. She was the beloved daughter of Elbert Fountain and Agnes Templeton Fountain, both of whom preceded her in death.

At an early age, Annie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized in a pond in Mt. Vernon, following the cherished tradition of the community. She became a faithful member of Denton Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, where she worshiped under the current leadership of Pastor Dwight White. Annie remained a devoted member until her health no longer allowed her to attend regularly.

Although Annie's lifelong home was in Mt. Vernon, she attended school in nearby Mt. Pleasant, where many children from the Mt. Vernon community received their education. Mt. Vernon remained the place she lovingly called home throughout her life. On October 5, 1955, she married the love of her life, Marvin Lee Dunlap, Their union was blessed with two children: Marvin Jr., born on February 16, 1956, and their precious daughter, Marilyn, born on July 25, 1957.

Annie began her working career at an early age and truly loved what she did. She faithfully worked for Dr. Otto Walling and his wife, Lucy, for 27 years. Working for the Wallings was more than a job-it was family. She had the joy of watching their children grow from infancy into adulthood. In the evenings, Annie also worked as a nursing assistant at Terry Haven Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon for eight years, until the facility closed. Never one to shy away from hard work, she continued serving others by working at Mission Manor Nursing Home for three years while remaining employed by the Wallings. She eventually retired as her health began to decline.

Annie found great joy in caring for those she loved. She especially loved cooking, and her home was often filled with family gathered around the table enjoying her delicious home-cooked meals. Thanksgiving was one of her favorite occasions, as it brought everyone together to share food, laughter, and treasured memories.

She also loved shopping and never needed a special occasion to treat herself to a beautiful outfit. Annie enjoyed dressing elegantly and completing every look with a fancy hat that reflected her unique style and grace.

Annie was an avid sports fan and faithfully kept up with her favorite soap operas. Both provided endless conversation with her dear phone buddies-Connie Dunlap, Ethelene Roberston, Faye Ellis, and Versey Wright. They spent countless hours talking, laughing, catching up on life, and sharing the latest news. Those friendships brought her great happiness throughout the years.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Agnes Fountain; her beloved husband, Marvin Lee Dunlap; her brothers, James and Charles Fountain; her sisters, Helen Ruth Jackson, Artie Lee Ashton, and Luereece Dunlap; and her granddaughter, Brittany Dunlap.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her brother, Preston Fountain of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; her son, Marvin Dunlap Jr. (Mary) of Mt. Vernon, Texas; her devoted daughter, Marilyn Steptoe (Reginald) of DeSoto, Texas; her grandchildren, Jermonica Charles, Jamie Lynn Doss, Dewayne Dunlap, Kyla Dunlap, Nicki Dunlap, Shaun Evans, Cherita Moten, Carita Porter, Kelsey Porter, and Lagreisha Samples; her great-grandchildren; cousins; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.

Annie's legacy of faith, love, hard work, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her life was a beautiful blessing, and her memory will forever be.
