Charles Edward Rhymes, Sr. was born December 8, 1938, to Joshua and Estella Rhymes in Pittsburg, Texas. He was called home on June 27, 2023 in Tyler, Texas. He was raised in the Ferndale Community and attended school at Living Green and graduated from Fredrick Douglas High School in 1958. He left home and moved to St. Louis, Mo where he worked as a welder.

Charles will be remembered for his straightforward talking. In 1998, he married Brenda Louise Ford. No children were born to this union.

Charles is proceeded in death by his parents Joshua and Estella; three brothers, Willie James, Cleo and Ramon Rhymes; two sisters, Mary and Geraldine and nephew, Howard Rhymes.

He is survived by a son, Charles Rhymes, Jr. of St. Louis, Mo., grandson, Justin Rhymes; one sister, Ms. Bette Hamilton of Pittsburg, TX; nieces, Carolyn, Vickie, Ann, Dorothy, Beverly, Dreka, Latisa, Loretta, Celenn, Kerita, Shundrea, T'onna, Matreeka, Liala, Shatobeca, Michelle, Vericka, DeAundra, Mireya, Reyna, Kathilyn, and Pumpkin; nephews, Willie James, Wayne, Anthony, Willie, Cedric, Patrick, Octavious, Antonio, Rodrick, Tyrese, Qua, Richard, Jr., and Jay; and a host of relatives and friends.
