Ms. Coqueace Andrenet Powell

Ms. Coqueace Andrenet Powell affectionately known as KoCo or Queacy, the daughter of Retta (James) Thurmon and JC (Bonita) Johnson, was born in Dallas, Texas on May 30,1974.

Coqueace took her final bow and passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 7, 2022. She won the valiant battle over breast cancer and departed this world to her eternal home with God.

Coqueace attended schools in the DISD and graduated from Franklin D. Roosevelt High School. Velt Dawgs! Upon her graduation, she joined the US Navy, where she was stationed in Hawaii, and continued her education in Journalism.

As a young child, Coqueace exhibited great enthusiasm for life, love, and people. She understood the human need for compassion, understanding and empathy.

Whether it was spending time with family and friends, shopping, traveling, television appearances, commercials, motivational speaking engagements, counseling, horseback riding, horse sport competitions or working on the computer – she was always the life of the party.

Coqueace was incredible, beautiful, brilliant, generous, colorful, and resilient; with a smile that could light up the night. I called her my "Sunshine."
