Darrell Glen Roberson was born in Linden, Texas, on August 17, 1961, to the late Superintendent Neotis Roberson Sr. and Hiawatha Buford Roberson. He was the sixth of eight children. He peacefully departed this earthly life on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the age of 64 in Douglassville, Texas.

Darrell attended Atlanta Independent Schools in Atlanta, Texas, and graduated in 1979. After high school, Darrell traveled to Woodbridge, Virginia, for a short stay, where he applied for a position with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. Although he received a job offer, he declined it and returned to Texas. Darrell later attended a computer technology school in Dallas, Texas, where he earned a certification in computer operations.

Darrell had a diverse work history, including employment with Lone Star Tubular in Lone Star; Hawk Wellhead in Longview; United Parcel Service in Dallas; Cooper Tire in Texarkana; and 360 Surveying in Longview.

From a young age, Darrell had a deep love and passion for horses. He and his favorite horse, Blackjack, were a sight to behold. They shared a special bond that extended far beyond the saddle. Their connection remained strong, lasting throughout Blackjack's life and even after Blackjack's passing.

Darrell was a member of the Gum Springs Riders from an early age. He later managed the Gums Spring Track, eventually purchasing the property and becoming its owner-operator. The track has served as a gathering place for many groups and individuals, hosting trail rides, bonfires, and community events.

Within the community, Darrell was known for his generosity, often providing free meals at unexpected times simply out of kindness. He found joy in helping others through acts of service, including mowing, bush hogging, jump-starting vehicles, and towing disabled cars. Each year, Darrell gave back by sponsoring free trail rides and providing meals for participants and attendees.

He envisioned the Gum Springs Track serving an even greater purpose in the community. In October 2025, during his own health struggles, he co-sponsored a two-day revival at the location to bring souls closer to Christ, expressing his hope that events like this would continue.

Darrell was a faithful supporter of his father's pastoral ministry for many years. He would drive Pastor Roberson for Sunday Services at Wallace Memorial in Texarkana and Roberson Temple in Omaha. This support continued until Pastor Roberson transitioned church leadership to others.

Darrell leaves behind a legacy as he was a man who touched his family and community in countless ways, and he will be deeply missed by many.

Darrell was preceded in death by his father, Superintendent Neotis Roberson Sr.; his brother, Neotis Roberson Jr.; his niece, Andrea Clark; and his brothers-in-law, Earnest Clark and Cornelious Arberry II.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Hiawatha Buford Roberson; his soulmate, Latonia Garner; children, Marcus Washington, Courtney Rowe (Brittanye), Darrell Roberson Jr., Dajah Garner, Markavia Garner; his granddaughter, Marciana Washington; his former spouse, Barbara Davis Roberson; his brother, Erwin Roberson Sr. (Vonceille); his sisters, Altheoris Roberson, LaGuan Arberry, Darlene Clark, Regina Dancy (Maurice), and Dr. V. Gail Turner (Williamson); his sister-in-law, Aretha Roberson (Neotis Jr.); a lifelong friend, Robert Stewart; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, riding partners, and friends.
