Douglas Wayne Traylor, Sr., was born on February 28, 1952, in Mt. Pleasant, TX to Gladys Ruth Gullian. He received his education for the Mt. Pleasant ISD, graduating in the class of 1970.

Douglas was baptized into the body of Christ at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church at an early age. He was a dependable and active member throughout his life. He served in many capacities and was Superintendent of Sunday School at his death. The church never had to employ anyone to maintain shrubbery at the church, Douglas, took care of it, faithfully!

He met and married Cassandra Neal Brown in 1978, to this union, 3 children were born; making a family of 6 children: Beulah, Keith, Sherri, Douglas Jr., Carolina, and Matsey. Douglas was most proud of his family and their family heritage.

He had a productive employment life. Having worked at Lone Star Steel, Priefert Industries, and Big Tex Trailers, spanning over 39 years.

He was preceded in death by his mother Gladys Ruth Gullian; sisters, Janice Palmer, and Joyce Ann Shaw.

Douglas Wayne Traylor, Sr. leaves to cherish his memories: A loving, devoted wife Cassandra Traylor; children, sons, Melvin Jones of Pittsburg, Texas, Douglas Traylor, Jr. and Matsey Traylor of Mt. Pleasant, TX; daughters Sherri Lyles of Jackson, MS; Beulah Taylor and Carolina Traylor of Texarkana, TX; brothers, Tom Traylor of Boston, MA and Dwight Traylor of Daingerfield, TX; nieces, Sue Field of Mt. Pleasant, Deshunna  Traylor and Regina Palmer of Dallas, TX; nephew, Darwin Shaw of Mesquite, Texas;12 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
