Elder Lonnie Ray McCoy Sr, was born January 6, 1959, in Dallas, TX to Lee Ollie and Dorothy
McCoy.
He became a member at New El Bethel at an early age under the late Reverend V.L Warren.
He later joined Greater Harvest COGIC in 1987 under leadership of Bishop Frank Walter Smith,
JR. He received the baptism of the holy ghost at Saturday prayer which was called the
Pentecost Experience. Shortly thereafter he accepted his calling into the ministry. He continued
to serve under the leadership of Bishop Corby Bush, SR. He was ordained as an Elder in the
COGIC. In 2007 he started Army of Lord Ministries and continued until his health was
compromised.
He attended Albert Sidney Johnston Elementary School, Oliver Wendell Holmes Junior High,
and was a proud member of the 1977 graduating class of Franklin Delano Roosevelt High
School. " Go Mustangs!" He pursued his higher education at Art Institute Of Dallas in Dallas, TX.
He graduated in June of 1989 with an Associates of Applied Arts in Visual Communications. He
continued his education studies at Southern Bible Institute. He graduated in April of 2005 with a
Bachelor of Arts in Theology. In May of 2012 he received a Masters Degree in Pastoral Studies.
On November 21,1986 Lonnie and Karen McCoy were married . There are three beautiful
children, Lonnie Ray McCoy, JR, Kestahan John McCoy, and Kelani Regine McCoy. He was
attentive and loved his children.
He worked for Don Herring for 20 years where he received multiple awards and recognition for
outstanding car sales and customer service.
His father preceded him in death in 2004. His grandson, Jacoriqus L McCoy, preceded him in
death. His sister, Carol McCoy Langdon preceded him in death in 2019.
Elder Lonnie McCoy leaves to cherish his loving and committed wife Karen McCoy of 35 years;
loving mother, Dorothy McCoy; two sons, Lonnie Ray McCoy JR and Kestahn McCoy(Ana);
daughter, Kelani Regine McCoy; grandson, Daviawan Bishop; two brothers Ronnie Ray
McCoy, Freddy Steger(Lillian); sister Hollye Lewis(Eddy); two Aunts, Josephine Henderson and
Rose Johnson. God daughter, host of nieces, nephews and cousins
