Obituary

There was magic in a Erma's touch, and sunshine in her smile. There was love in everything she did to make our lives worthwhile. We could find both hope and courage just by looking into her eyes. Her laughter was a source of joy, her works were warm and wise. There was a kindness and compassion to be found in her embrace, and we saw the light of heaven shining from her face. Erma Jean Jenkins was born in McGregor, Texas on September 4th, 1935 to Willie Jenkins Sr. and Mary Alice Smith. She attended school in the McGregor School System where she participated in a number of activities including serving as captain of her cheer team. She joined the New Zion Baptist Church at an early age where she served as an usher and sang in the choir. She leaves behind to cherish her memories her husband of 65 years James O. Williams, daughter Brenda Cole (Melvin), granddaughters Kimberly Cole-White (J.C.) and Kesha Cole-Jones (Jimmie), great grandson Ean James Jones, great granddaughter Logan Nicole Jones, sister Hattie Myrtle-Jayroe, brother-in-law Horace Williams, sister-in-law Jewel Williams, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her older sister Helen Marie Newton, brothers Logan Jenkins, Willie Lee Jenkins Jr., and Alton James Jenkins.
