Florine Thomas was born August 21, 1943 to the parentage of Houston and Everlena Smith, who preceded her in death. She had one son Vincent Henry and two sister Mary Lee Smith and Katherine English, who also preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Frederick Douglass High School in Pittsburg Texas. Florine accepted Christ at an early ageand was very active in her church Rocky Mound C.O.G.I.C.serving as church mother until her health failed.
