Gerald W Hughes (Jerry) began his heavenly journey on November 5th, 2018, at his home in DeKalb, TX. Born in Anchorage Kentucky July 28th 1947 and raised in Simpsonville, Kentucky by the late James Randall Hughes, Sr. and Dorothy Virginia Adkins Hughes. Gerald graduated from Shelby Co., High School in 1966. He received his Bachelors of Science in Education from Eastern Kentucky University in 1970, and his Masters of Science in Industrial Education at Florida State University. Gerald retired in both Florida and Kentucky as an awarded teacher in Industrial Education. He was a former mechanic at LSI, Bowie County, Texas. Gerald also started his own business as a professional blade sharpener, traveling the country sharpening blades, and showing the miniature horses he loved. He is survived by his brother James Randall Hughes, Jr. (Marianne Falk) children Michelle, Bobby(FL). Sister Norma Hughes Watts (Bill Watts) New York, children Jennifer Watts Englert (Mike Englert) Evan and Lilly, New York, Juliet Watts Jackson (Mark Jackson) children Lincoln and Collin, TX. His special nephew, David Nelson Witt (Jenna Lee Clemmons) children Kirsten, Katelynn, Caleb, Mason, Ky. Stepdaughters Nata Porter (Steve Moyer) Tina Porter (Clifton Britnell) children Jacob, Sarah, Adam, Dillon, TX. Grandson, Jacob Lunsford, TX. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, James Randal Hughes, Sr. and Dorothy Virginia Adkins Hughes, KY. His sister Linda Hughes Witt (Malcom Witt) KY. His nephew James Douglas Witt, KY and his loving wife Carolyn Porter, TX
