Harold Dean
Dabbs
Apr 10, 1930 — Aug 16, 2025
Harold Dean Dabbs, a man of quiet strength and gentle humor, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, at the age 95.
Harold was born on April 10,1930, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. He attended school and grew up in the close-knit community of Piney. His family's roots run deep in East Texas. His grandfather, Robert Dabbs, a former slave from Virginia, brought the Dabbs family to the region, laying the foundation for generations to come. In 1949, Harold helped his beloved late mother, Gladys Dabbs, relocate their family to Plano, Texas, where he lived the remainder of his life.
Harold was the essence of hard work, dedication, and a kind heart. He began a long and proud career at Capital Wire & Cable in Plano, where he worked as a machinist for 35 years. Harold was proud of his work, known for being steady and incredibly skilled. He often shared that he walked to work each day and would proudly say, "I never missed a day of work"—a testament to his unwavering dedication and work ethic.
Beyond his work, Harold was a quiet soul whose quiet generosity and kindness touched many lives. Though he had no children of his own, he played a deeply meaningful role in the lives of his extended family's children. His legacy lives on through generations of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who loved him dearly, as well as through the friends in the Douglas community of Plano, Texas.
Harold was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Dabbs; his brothers, Henry Wells, Bobby Dabbs, and Leon Dabbs; and his sister, Lelda Dabbs Warner.
In accordance with his wishes, a graveside service will be at Piney Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, on August 30, 2025. He will be laid to rest, returning to the Piney community where his life's journey began.
