Jesse Lee
Hatley
Dec 14, 1944 — Nov 20, 2024
Jesse Lee Hatley, 79, was born on December 14, 1944, the son of late parents, Jeff and
Zepha Hatley in Atlanta, Texas.
Jesse lived in Douglasville, Texas in his early years and attended Dunbar High School
in Texarkana, TX before moving to Dallas, Texas. Upon moving to Dallas, TX, he
married Odessa "Dess" Grady where they continued their family.
He was employed at the Diversco Insulation Co., where he worked as an insulator. With
deep roots in East Texas, Jesse loved raising cattle and tending to the family's land,
even after relocating to Dallas.
Jesse's kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for his family and friends will be
remembered by all who knew him. His legacy of hard work, humility, and compassion
will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. Jesse was a person who never minced
words and always told it like it was. Jesse was known for his brutal honesty, unflinching
bluntness, and unwavering authenticity. While his directness was legendary, those who
knew him understood that beneath the sharp words and no-nonsense demeanor, lay a
heart of gold.
On November 20, 2024, Jesse Lee Hatley entered eternal rest. Preceding him in death
were his parents, Jeff and Zepha Hatley, his twin brother James Hatley, brothers
Truman Haskins (Faye), Marvin Hatley and baby sister Rinder Brown "Peewee."
To carry on his legacy, he leaves his wife Odessa; children Tony (Kandyce), Jeffrey
(Sandi), La' Rozi (Lynn), Jessie (Audrey), Edward (Renetta), Karen (Lee); 20
grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren that he cherished.
He is also survived by six siblings, Lawrence Hatley (Pat), Kenneth "Jr." (Alice Faye),
Sandra Williamson (Harvey), Debra Williamson, Dale Wayne Williamson, one Special
Uncle: Welton "Fink" Hatley, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sister in laws, brother
in laws, and friends.
