Katandra La'Sha Roney was born at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas to Danny and

Jewlynn Roney. She attended Mt. Pleasant High School and Northeast Texas Community

College in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.

Katandra spent several years living in Longview, Texas where she worked in Managment

before relocating to Dallas. There, she continued to work as a licensed security guard,

always holding roles that reflected her bold spirit and fierce dedication.

From a young age Katandra had a magnetic presence. She loved music and performance –

often found on stage rapping and sing her original lyrics. Her passion for expressing

herself was as powerful as her presence: real, raw and unforgettable.

Katandra had a personality that could never be duplicated-- she was straight up, matter-

of-fact and never afraid to say what needed to be said. At the same time she was full of

light – a happy soul with a cool unforgettable vibe that drew people in. Being with her felt

like home and brought the best energy out of everyone. Her greatest joy was her children

and her family, whom she loved beyond measure.

Katandra leaves to cherish her memory: her son Travorias Hicks and daughter Tyshiana

Hicks of Dallas, Texas; her parents Danny and Jewlynn Roney of Mt. Pleasant, Texas;

brother Delmas Roney and sisters Lynesia Roney and Tiffanee LeDuff of Dallas, TX, She is

also survived by her beloved dog Suga Mama, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces,

nephews, cousins, extended family and friends who will forever carry her light.

Katandra was preceded in death by her grandparents George Alexander and Hazell

Roney and Milton and Addie Marie Pace; aunts Linda Johnson, Jonethia Jeffery, and

Glenda Darden; uncles HG Gholston, LeeRoy Roney and Anthony Nichols; niece

LaDominique Roney, cousin Anthony Nichols Jr ("Man") and Donathan Jeffery and special

friend Chaddrick Hooker.
