Larry D. Byrd was born on August 2, 1950, in Naples (Morris County), Texas, to the late Ermaline Byrd. He peacefully departed this life on June 6, 2026.

Larry was one of eleven children and accepted Christ at an early age at Williams Chapel Baptist Church. He received his education through the George Washington Carver School District. Larry later served his country with honor after being drafted into the United States Army, where he spent two years stationed in Germany.

Larry was well-loved and respected throughout the community. He never met a stranger and was known for his warm spirit, infectious smile, and hearty laugh. One of his favorite daily routines was rising early in the morning to enjoy a cup of coffee and socialize with his dear friend/cousin, Calvert Nickleberry.

Larry took great pride in his work and had a passion for mowing yards, keeping his appearance sharp. Dressing to impress was honestly "Larry's way," and he carried himself with confidence, style, and dignity wherever he went. His smile, charisma demeanor, and laugh will forever leave a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Larry was blessed with two children. His daughters: Shalatina Byrd and Celisty Byrd whom he loved dearly.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, his mother Ermaline (Byrd) Wilkerson, 3 brothers: Toby L. Byrd, Billy R. Wilksron, and Sammie Wilkerson, and one sister Mary Turner.

Larry leaves to cherish his memories; his two daughters; Shalatina Byrd of Longview, TX; Celisty Byrd of Tyler, TX; one sister: Dorothy Tyler of Dallas, TX; four brothers: Mike (Lavern) Byrd of Naples, TX; James Byrd of Naples, TX; Milton Wilkerson of Dallas, TX; George (Kathleen) Wilkerson of Dallas, TX; and Randy Wilkerson of Naples, TX; four grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
