Obituary for Sister LaTureena Annette Miller Bryson Sister LaTureena "Trina" Annette Miller Bryson was born to Mary Thursby and John Miller on September 1, 1968, in Mount Pleasant, Texas, where she was reared and resided as a child. She received her formal education in the Mount Pleasant public schools and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in the Class of 1986. Endowed with a heart of compassion and filled with a desire to assist and care for others, she chose the field of healthcare as her primary profession. Thus, following high school, she matriculated to Rolla Technical Institute in Sullivan, Missouri, where she received her Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care. Upon completion of her degree, she began her practice as a Respiratory Therapist in Rolla, Missouri and later continued it in Longview, Texas. For over 15 years she gave excellent and professional care to her patients and was highly regarded by her administrators and peers for her considerable knowledge and expertise. After moving to Houston, she worked for the City of Houston in the Department of Health, and loved her job and colleagues there. A woman gifted with many creative talents, skills and abilities, Sister Bryson fulfilled her destiny as a successful entrepreneur and businesswoman by establishing her own candle design and marketing business, called: "Heavenly Smells." She loved creating beautiful things to enjoy for the glory of God, providing the warm glow of light and the essence of sweet aromas that would fill a room. Generous to a fault, and knowing that she was only a vessel through which the goodness of the Lord could be manifested, she used her business and its resources to bless many others and to help those in need. On December 27, 1986 the very lovely, young LaTureena was married to her former spouse, Danny Craig Bryson. To this 28 year union was born two beautiful children: LaCheria "Muffin" and Danny Craig II. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved, nurtured and disciplined her children, raising them in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Although at times she could be quite a disciplinarian (because she always meant EXACTLY what she said), she loved her family with the unconditional love that only a MOTHER can possess. They traveled abroad and achieved many milestones as a family, and were blessed to enjoy the best of life together. When her grandchildren, Halo and Harper, were born they became the apple of her eye. Like a mother hen she took them under her wings and helped to rear them, including teaching both of them how to walk and talk. During her health challenges, they gave her a reason to continue her battle for recovery, so that she would be able to remain and watch them grow. Sister Bryson loved to cook for her family, and was known for her favorite dishes: smothered porkchops, green beans or chili beans, mashed potatoes, and biscuits. If it was a Sunday meal she would cook pot roast with sugar-rice, cornbread, and pinto beans. Sister Bryson was born into a heritage of Holiness and was reared in the Pentecostal faith. She believed the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ as a very young girl, and was Saved and Baptized with the Holy Ghost under the pastoral leadership of Superintendent W. B. Bookman at the First Church of God in Christ in Mount Pleasant, where her great-grandmother served as Church Mother. After moving to Missouri, she united with Divine Deliverance Church of God, where she taught Sunday School and was very active in various ministries of the church. Sister Bryson moved back to Texas and resided in the city of Longview, where she united with Bethel Temple of Longview, Inc. currently under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Robert L. Evans. During her tenure at Bethel Temple, she was appointed as a Missionary and served faithfully for many years. She labored untiringly in support of the church's vision and mission, and in the upbuilding of the Lord's Kingdom. Lately, she had united with Church on Purpose, under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Eric Love, where she was a faithful and dedicated member until her homegoing. Sister Bryson loved her church and her pastor, and she worked diligently as a member of the "I Serve" Outreach Ministry until her health no longer permitted. From her childhood to the end of her earthly life Sister Bryson loved music and singing. She decided to enhance her musical skills and broaden her musical knowledge by enrolling in the Music Program at Kilgore College, and graduated from there with an Associate Degree in Music. A psalmist at heart, she loved playing the piano and learning new songs; and she loved the wondrous praises and worship of the Lord, lifting up His Holy Name and giving Him all of the glory. She had even started teaching her granddaughters the basics of piano, and they loved spending that time with their "Yannie." Yes, our beloved Sister Bryson lived life to the fullest, and reveled in good food, clean fun and sweet fellowship. She loved laughter, and had a keen sense of humor. She was always the life of any party, and brought brightness into every room she entered. Even during difficult times, she never allowed her illness to stop her from experiencing the joy of life, traveling all across the world – and especially to her favorite vacation spot, Jamaica. Her earthly sojourn ended on May 3, 2021, when she departed this life, as her family stood by her side. With her warm and beautiful smile, her personable manner and her compassionate spirit, she touched and impacted the lives of many. She leaves a rich legacy as a devoted Christian, loving mother, beloved sibling and faithful Servant of the Lord. Sister Bryson was preceded in death by: her mother, Mary Thursby; father, I. C. Thursby; and biological father, John Miller. She leaves to celebrate her homegoing: her two children, LaCheria "Muffin" VanBuren (Kristopher) of Houston, Texas and Danny Craig Bryson II of Dallas, Texas; her grandchildren, the beautiful Halo and Harper VanBuren; sisters: Charlotte Miller and Victoria Chism; brothers, Lawrence Fields, Michael Miller and John Miller II; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, good friends, and church family.
