Reflections of Life

Leon Charles Brown peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on January 19, 2024, at the age of 78. He was born August 7, 1945, as the first of ten children to the parentage of Oneita and Henry Brown in a little town called "White Oak" in the city of Mt. Pleasant, Texas. He attended school at Booker T. Washington School graduating Class of 1964.

After graduating from high school, Leon got a sight of the city lights of Dallas and began a labor job, later getting drafted for the United States Army to serve in the Vietnam War and honorable discharged in 1969 as Sgt. Leon Brown in Fort Polk, Louisiana. Back to the Dallas city lights where he began his career with CertainTeed Steel Company for years. He later joined the Quaker Oats family in 1986 where he retired in August 2013. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing. Leon loved his family and was known as the tender meat smoker for the family reunions. He would do it all and his family definitely loved him.

At an early age Leon attended Full Gospel Holy Temple under the leadership of the late Apostle Lobias and 1st Lady Shirley Murray. He later met and married Madie where they joined membership under the late Rev. R.M. Bell and Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, now currently Calvary Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J. H. Moore Jr. Leon served faithfully on the deacon board, usher board and male chorus. After his health began to decline, he never forgot the word of the Lord. During his transition, he wanted to listen to his gospel music and listen to the word of God.

Preceding him in death, mother and father. Brothers: Clyde Brown, Houston Brown and Ernestine Brown. Brother-in-law: Michael Smith. Nephews: Alfred Kyle and Kevin Green. Niece: LaKeysha Simpson.

Those left to cherish is precious memories: His faithful and devoted wife of 35 years, Madie Brown. Daughters: Shenequeia Brown, Errica Brown and Debbie Ruffin.

Grandchildren: Darnisha Brown, Danyielle Brown, Christopher Smith and Ja'Roderick Smith. The little ones that loved to call him "PawPaw", Jason, Jazlynne, Ja'Naila, Jordyn, DeAaron and Demoni. Sisters: Winnie Kyle, Edna Smith, Julia (Lonnie) Hill, Marie Williams and Treeca Pate. Brother: Stevie(Stephanie) Brown. Brother-in-laws: Melvin and Lavan Ruffin, Sister-in-Law: Lenoria Irving. Godsons: Danny (Tracy) Moore and Jerome Solomon. He also leaves a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives.
