Obituary

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lionel Wayne

Johnson, a spirited soul who left this world far too soon on April 5, 2025, at the age of 68.

Born on June 25, 1956 in the country town city of Gilmer, Texas. He graduated from Union

Hill in 1975.

On July 1, 1988, Lionel Wayne married the love of his life Margie Hodridge. To this union a

very beautiful family was manifested. From youth to 2007, Lionel Wayne was a member of

Bethlehem Baptist Church. In September of 2011, he joined Cypress Street Church of Christ of

Gilmer, Texas. Lionel Wayne was a very devoted worker to Weatherford until he retired.

Lionel Wayne was a force of nature, known for his quick wit, infectious humor, and an

adventurous spirit that simply couldn't be contained. Growing up, Lionel Wayne was never

one to shy away from speaking his mind. His smart mouth and sharp tongue were matched

only by his enormous heart. He knew how to keep everyone on their toes. Lionel Wayne had

an uncanny ability to navigate through life by making each moment unforgettable.

His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he poured every ounce of love into his

relationships. As a husband, father, brother, and paw paw, Lionel Wayne was fiercely devoted

and always the first to crack a joke or tell it like it is. He never hesitated to bust out a dance

move or create a Tik Tok Video with his grandkids. He was known for never staying in one

spot for long, always on the move and seeking for what's next.

Lionel Wayne believed in making the world a better place, one witty comment at a time. His

outgoing nature drew people to him, and they found comfort in his authenticity and support.

Though he may have left us, Lionel Wayne's spirit continues to light up our lives. His laughter

and love will reverberate in our hearts as we remember his bold spirit, contagious laughter, and

the unwavering belief that life is meant to be lived to the fullest.
