Elizabeth Traylor Grundy was born on November 2, 1946 to the parentage of Dewey L. and Lizzie Evans-Traylor in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy L. Grundy, one sister, Gladys E. Johnson, two brothers, Willie James Traylor, Dewey L. Traylor, Jr., a special nephew, Morris A. Grundy (Red) and one of her best friends, Earlene Jackson.She graduated from Booker T. Washington in 1965. She married her high school sweetheart on November 2, 1968. To this union, two children were born.Mary retired from Mt. Pleasant ISD after 25 years as a Special Education teacher's aide. Mary gave her life to Christ at an early age at Sunset Baptist Church and was a faithful member working in all capacities of the church until her health failed. Mary was the matriarch of her family and she, along with her husband, raised many children in their home. She had a sweet soul and a servant's heart. Mary entered into eternal rest on November 7, 2024 at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital, Tyler, Texas.Mary leaves to cherish and continue her legacy; daughter Shanta (Sedrick) Lockett and Nathan Grundy, both of Mt. Pleasant and one sister, Annie Mae Jones, St. Petersburg, FL. Special nieces, LaToya Brown of Benton, LA, Sharee High of Tyler, Texas, Shakeshia High of McKinney, Texas, Sada High of Mt. Pleasant, Texas and Felecia (Phillip) Lover of Arlington, Texas. Her five grandchildren were the love of her life, Nickolas, Madison, Mahogany Grundy of Mt. Pleasant, TX, Elizabeth Lockett of Texarkana, TX and Shuntairra Grundy of Texarkana, AK, a special nephew, Shelton West of Mt. Pleasant, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
