Marye Lauranetta Mitchell Bell was born on February 20, 1953, in Santa Barbara, California, to Dr. S. E. Mitchell of Dallas, Texas, and Mother Jean Mitchell McNeil of Sulphur Springs, Texas. Raised in both Santa Barbara and Dallas, Marye grew up alongside her two brothers, Hugh (Sandy) Mitchell and Jesse Mitchell. Growing up with two brothers only made her stronger, and from an early age she exhibited immense potential, a spirited determination, and a gift for connecting with those around her.

Her early academic journey began at Albert Sidney Johnson Elementary School in Dallas, Texas, where the seeds of her love for learning were first planted. Marye went on to graduate from South Oak Cliff High School in 1971, where she distinguished herself as a young woman of exceptional character and achievement. During her time there, she was a proud member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Concert Choir, and the Taspers — each a reflection of her intellectual excellence, leadership, artistic gifts, and community spirit. Driven by her love of learning, she went on to enroll at the University of North Texas, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education in just three years — a testament to her focus, brilliance, and unwavering commitment to her calling.

With a passion for learning, teaching, and helping others grow, Marye answered her calling in the classroom. She began her career as a Kindergarten teacher at Leila P. Cowart Elementary in Dallas, Texas, where she first discovered the profound impact, a dedicated teacher could have on a child's life. She went on to continue her work at John Neely Bryan Elementary in Dallas, Texas where she devoted herself to developing foundational skills and tools that would set children on a path toward lifelong success. A gifted pianist, Marye brought music into her classroom as a powerful tool for learning — helping young children retain knowledge, build confidence, and discover the joy of education.

Over the course of thirty-four distinguished years with the Dallas Independent School District, Marye rose to become a pioneering leader in education. She made history as the first Principal of Clay Academy of The Potter's House Church in Dallas, TX, where Bishop T.D. Jakes is the Pastor — where her vision and leadership shaped the institution and left an indelible mark on students, staff, and the broader community. Beyond her role as principal, Marye extended her educational impact as a trainer and developer of teachers through her consulting agency, MBEK, equipping the next generation of educators with the tools and passion to transform young lives.

Marye's love for God was the wellspring from which everything else flowed. A devoted evangelist, she was the Founder and CEO of I Am Blessed 2 Ministries — an organization committed to evangelizing the lost and transforming hearts to live victoriously through prayer, faith in Jesus Christ, and the power of God's spoken Word. A faithful member of New Generation COGIC, she served with distinction as Communion Director and as a member of the Executive Board. She also served as a Board of Trustee for the Texas Covenant Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction and as a member of the Executive Board of the Department of Women, Texas Covenant Jurisdiction. As a powerful prophetic intercessor, Marye stood in the gap for countless souls, carrying them before the throne of God with faith and fire.

Marye loved God, and she loved people. She was a shining light in every room she entered, with a smile that could warm the coldest of hearts and a spirit so vibrant it was impossible to ignore. She gave generously — of her time, her talent, her prayers, and her presence — and she served people until her very last breath, all for the Glory of God.

Marye Lauranetta Mitchell Bell transitioned peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 11, 2026, at Methodist Richardson Hospital. She fought the good fight, finished her race, and kept the faith. Heaven's gates opened wide to receive a faithful servant, a fierce warrior, and a woman who truly loved without limits.
