Matthew Collins Young (Uncle Matt) was born in Naples, Texas to Emma Mae Martin Young and James Douglas Young on March 20, 1934. He received his education from George Washington Carver School in Naples, Texas. After graduating high school, Matthew served three years in the United States Air Force with an honorable release from active duty as an Airman Third Class. He continued serving others working as a truck driver in the United States until he retired. Matthew lived in California for several years before making Ft. Worth, Texas his permanent place of residence.

Matthew was preceded in death by both parents, eight sisters and one brother. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons: Kenneth Ray Young and wife Yvette of Los Angeles, California and Douglas Roosevelt Young and wife Denise of Saugus, California; four sisters: Bobbie Johnson, Mary Valeria Young, and Loraine Turner, all of Dallas, Texas, and Patricia Franklin of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters: Briana Young of Los Angeles, California, and Dalie Young of Saugus, California; two grandsons: Christopher Young (wife Nico) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Daren Young of Saugus, California; four great granddaughters: Sarai, Maia, Talia and Ariah Young; and one great grandson: Asher Young; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
