Merlissa Jane Brewer, 85, died on Friday, April 28,2023 in Mesquite, Texas surrounded by family.

Merlissa was born on January 22, 1938, in Dangerfield, Texas. She lived most of her adult life in Mount Pleasant, Texas. She met and married Richard Brewer, who proceed her in death in 2017. They leave to mourn eight children-Rick Brewer & Sherry Johnson of Mount Pleasant, Delisa Brewer of Mount Pleasant, William and Sharon Brewer of Desoto, Texas, Barbara Gilliam of Dallas, Texas, Martha Brewer of Mesquite, Texas, Darron Brewer of Denton, Texas, Robert and Joanna Brewer of Mesquite, Texas and Donna Brewer of Dallas, Texas. Also left to cherish her memory are a host of grandchildren she loved. Additionally, she leaves to mourn her sisters, Vernice Lee, Mary Owens, Anna Lee and Lyndia Lee.

Merlissa came to Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of the First Church of God In Christ. While a member there, she served in the choir and in the kitchen for many years. She enjoyed cooking and was often referred to as "the cake" lady to many in the community who would order cakes and pies during the holidays. She loved flowers and gardening, when she was active. Mostly, Merlissa loved to sit in her kitchen and fellowship with her family.

Merlissa was proceeded in death by her parents, Willie and Mary Lee; her brothers William Lee and James Lee; sisters, Katherine Heath, Myrtlene Cook, Rosetta Chappelle, and Helen Smith.
