Obituary

Michael J. White passed away on April 18, 2022 at the age of 79. He was born to Douglas William White and Juanita Irene "Neal" White at their home on July 16, 1942. He was number 7 of 9 kids born to my grandfather, only the 2nd to my grandmother. His siblings were Alvie, Dorothy, Eugene, Mozelle, Betty, Belva, Jimmy and Janis. Although some were grown and already married, you would never know they were from different mothers and had huge age gaps. They loved each other and bonded over the years. They were friends, mentors, supporters and great siblings to one another. Family reunions were always big and very loud. We kids have a lot of great memories of those gatherings. In 1953 his mother moved the family to Mt. Pleasant, TX where he grew up, made great friends, created lots of memories, played the games he loved and met the woman he would marry. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School, where he played baseball and basketball. He attended TCU for 1 year where he continued his baseball career. In the summer of 1961, he played semi-pro baseball, but realized that being broke and hungry was not for him. However, his baseball playing days did not end there, he was drafted into the Army where his main duty was to play baseball. The military thought his other duty should be as a MP. Upon being medically discharged, he moved back home and got a job with Winters Construction. This job launched his career in the construction industry where he thrived. As most of you know, he was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved going to the games. It was some of our best memories growing up. He enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers, although they made it hard from time to time. He did a lot of things over the years and tried a lot of different jobs. He loved his work but he loved his family more. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce; his son and daughter-in-law Brent and Shay; his daughter Natalie; his three grandsons Brayson, Colby & Dustin; his sisters Dorothy Cornstubble (husband Buddy), Betty McGuire (husband Jimmy), Belva Barrett, and Janis Murdoff (husband Jerry); sister-in-law Iva Hedges; brother-in-law Lonnie Hedges (wife Debbie); brother–in–law William (wife RaNae); numerous nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Doug White and mother, Irene Daughtry; his uncle OC Neal; his aunts Verna Barnes (husband Tom) and Velera Porter; his brothers Alvie White (wife Myra), Eugene White (wife Wanda) and Judge Jimmy White (wife Carol); his sister Mozelle Strain (husband George); his nephews David White, Curtis White, Jimmy White, Jr., Keith Reeves, William Crumrine, Rusty Mitchell and Steve Mitchell; his niece Mona Drake.
