THE LIFE REFLECTIONS OF

Mother Betty Louise Long

Betty Louise Dunning Long was born October 3, 1959, to the late Betty Jean Dunning and Robert Theodore Dunning.

Betty grew up in Avinger, Texas where she matriculated through elementary and middle school and graduated from Avinger High School. She furthered her education at Panola College in Carthage, Texas and later attended the University of Houston where she received an associate degree in counseling.

After matriculating through college, she worked at Brandenburg Intermediate School, served as director of numerous care homes for the elderly, worked in marketing for Sam's Club, Charlton Methodist Hospital, and was employed at United Healthcare until her demise.

Betty was truly a woman of God. She attended Greater Harvest Church of God in Christ where the Children's Church was her heart. She loved the children and among her many giftings, she loved to write plays for the youth to participate. She focused on teaching young people to love God, themselves and their family.

She later attended North Park CME Church where she studied to become a minister and subsequently preached her first sermon there under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Hollingshed. While at North Park, Minister Betty taught children's Sunday School, sang in the choir and served in evangelism.

Betty later joined the Shiloh Institutional Church of God in Christ (Shiloh Church) where she served faithfully as a Minister until she was released to help her son, Pastor Sam Long, III, establish his Ministry.

Minister Betty Long then joined Kingdom Life Assembly Church and continued to follow her passion of leading the Children's Ministry. She was ordained an Elder under her pastor and beloved son, Apostle Sam Long, III and appointed as District Missionary of the Guiding Star District. Mother Betty Long continued to serve the Lord faithfully until her health began to fail.

On Thursday, August 24th in the year of our Lord, 2023, she received her heavenly wings and transitioned from the terrestrial limitations of this earthly tabernacle to her eternal home.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving parents, Robert and Betty Dunning; brother, Jimmy Bertron; and sister, Brenda Garcia.

She leaves to cherish her memories; her son, Apostle Sam Long, III (Brittani), Dallas, TX; daughters, Bandice Hill, California, Sameria Long, Avenger, TX, Shaquita Rogers (Aaron), San Antonio, TX., Samanthia Eldridge (Evan), Atlanta, GA.; a sister, Willie Mae Davis (Joe), Texas; eight bonus sisters, Pastor Natalie Jackson, Malena Smith (Terry), Shreveport, LA, Lana Williams (Paul), Humble, TX., Renee Gilmore (David), Bossier, LA., Kathryn Watson, Jefferson, TX, Margaret Criner, Avinger, TX, Betty Austin (David), Kilgore, TX., Willie Lanora Bryant, Plano, TX.; 12 grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
