Otis James
Woods, Jr.
Jun 13, 1961 — Sep 7, 2025
Otis James Woods, Jr. affectionately known as "Junebug", was born on June
13, 1961 to the late Willie Mae (Robertson) Woods and Otis James Woods, Sr.
He entered the world as a premature baby, so tiny that his family had to carry
him on a pillow.
He graduated from Daingerfield High School class of 1979. In 1980, Junebug
proudly joined the United States Army, receiving a honorable discharge. During
his life he was affiliated with Shady Grove Baptist Church in Cason, Texas and
later with New Home Baptist Church, 4509 Maple Street in Bonham, TX, Pastor
Gene Reddick.
Junebug was a strong-willed man with a big heart. He loved to make people
laugh, attend Church, lend a helping hand, visit the Elderly and sick whenever he
could. He worked hard throughout his life. During his lifetime he spent many
years hauling hay, cutting wood and working at Pilgrims Pride in Mt. Pleasant,
Texas.
Though Junebug never married or had any children of his own, he poured his
love and care into his nieces and nephews; treating them as if they were his
own. He also cherished the bond he shared with his many cousins. He was
preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Edward Duncan, Jr.(Kilroy) and
Forrest Woods (Crack Shot); his sisters, Debra Ector and Lillie (Nay) Woods-
Morrow; his nephew Keelyn Lee; and his niece Shanndolyn Morrow.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his brother Jerry Woods; his sisters, Cheryl
Lee, Marshalene McMillian, and Judie Williams. He also leaves behind a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, his best friend Kevin Spraglin and many
close friends.
Even as his health declined, Junebug never stopped asking about his loved ones.
His presence, laughter, dedication to hard work, care for others, and most of all,
his love for God will remain in our hearts forever.
