Life Reflections
Dear Family and Friends - Passing through this life into eternity is a journey that each of us must take. Some are
long, some short, but an imprint of service such as I have left says that my life lived has been well spent.
I was born October 20, 1968, in Lamar County to Vera Dillard.
I attended and graduated from North Lamar Independent School District in Paris, Texas.
I joined the Oak Hill Baptist Church in Arthur City, Texas at an early age and this is where I accepted Christ as my
personal savior. I then moved my membership to St. James Baptist Church in Gladewater, Texas under the
leadership of my father Rev. Robert D. Dangerfield.
On February 14, 1991, I joined in holy matrimony to Philip Tyrone Johnson and to this union two children were born,
Shamonda and Braylon Johnson.
The Lord blessed me with a moving, devoted husband, Derrick Bernard Perry. We united in holy matrimony on June
24, 2006. I was his forever rose, the fragrance, who served faithfully by his side and completed his life until death
November 1, 2020.
After Derrick's death, I joined Bible Teaching Ministries, Longview, TX as a watch care member under Bishop
Reginald Brazzle. I later united with Love Tabernacle Church of Paris TX under the leadership of Pastor Tristian Love
where I remained a member until I was no longer able to attend. I fought the good fight, and I finished the race at
home on December 19, 2023 @ 9:30 p.m. with "GJ" and Shamonda, "my sunshine" by my side.
I was preceded in death by my husband, Derrick Perry; parents: my birth mother, Mrs. Vera Dillard; my adoptive
parents, Rev. Robert Don and Georgia Dangerfield; my foster parents, G.M. and Willie B. Harper; my ex-husband
Philip Tyrone Johnson; my grandmother Mrs. Maxcile Richardson, Uncle Jimmy Richardson and my best friend, Mike
Thomas.
I leave to cherish all of our wonderful memories forever: an incredibly special mother: Mrs. Gloria Johnson (GJ); my
children: Shamonda (Tre') and Braylon Johnson; bonus children: LaToyja Johnson and Xavier Perry; Two
Grandchildren: Sarai A Johnson (Diva) and Braylon Johnson, Jr (Prince); Bonus Grandchildren: SaMorria Daniels,
Nerriah Barnes, Sontarius Frank, J'Nyiah Frank, Tae Shobe, TJ Coleman, JaHarious Jones, Lah'kerah Turner,
Raeleigh Robinson; Four Sisters: Christy Johnson, Remonda Lewis (Darryl), Angela Henderson, and Pamela
Johnson; Three Brothers: Stephen Johnson, Richard Johnson, Anthony Johnson;
Special Godchildren: Eriqstunn Smith, Tyreke Hicks; Aunts and Uncles: Frankie Dangerfield, Patricia Richardson,
Esther Timms, Shirley Henderson, Ray Pollard, Mike McCarty, and Rochester Johnson;
Five brothers in love: Jimmy Perry (Debbie), Bobby Perry (Tina), Raymond Perry (Lois), Kenneth Hornage (Juanita)
and Larry Hornage; Four Sisters in Love: Faye Booker (Gordon), Gloria Purcell (Jeff), Tasha Perry, and Jeanelle
Hornage; Best Friends: LaQuetta Westfield-Berry, LaSundra Wilson, Chandra Godlock, Tamera-Ricks Thomas, The
Crockett School "The Ol' Lady Gang" and a very special friend Pastor D. Ray Blanton.
I cannot name all of my many nieces, nephews, and remaining family and friends by name because I may leave out
someone especially important to me
