The Life and Legacy of Pastor George Rape

George Henry Rape was born February 1st, 1934, in Mt. Pleasant, TX, to John and Minnie (Allen) Rape. He departed his mortal life to a spiritual life with the Lord on Thursday, February 20th, 2025, at the age of 91 in Linden, TX.

George graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, Mt. Pleasant, TX. He enlisted with the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He worked 25 plus years for Campbell Soup Company until he retired.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Piney Creek Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, TX. He was called by God to proclaim Gospel and pastored a total of 52 years from 1967-2019. He pastored at the following churches: Antioch Baptist Church-Clarksville, TX, Free Hope Baptist Church-Bogota, TX, Mt. Zion Baptist Church-Deport, TX, Orange Chapel Baptist Church-Arthur City, TX, Sunset Baptist Church-Mt. Pleasant, St. John Baptist Church-Douglassville, TX, and Mt. Obie Baptist-Corley, TX. He later joined Floyd Valley Baptist Church under the leadership of Minister Reginald Bowser.

Pastor Rape was affiliated with the Willing Worker's Ministry for many years until 2020. They went to various nursing homes in the Northeast Texas area where he preached the word of God to many patients and facility. He loved fishing and hunting. What he enjoyed the most was preaching and teaching the word of God. Rev. Rape touched the lives of so many.

George Henry was married to Erma Jean Scales for 46 years until her passing. To this union, two children were born. Later, he met Nell Lloyd Nichols and on April 13th, 2001, they united in holy matrimony.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son-Ronnie Rape, three brothers, and 4 sisters.

He leaves to cherish is beloved memories: his loving wife, Nell Rape of 23 years and 10 months, son, Kenneth (Kris) Rape of Paris, TX, granddaughter, LaToya Odell of Dallas, TX, and great grandsons: Amarion Rape and JaJuanQuevius Minter of Dallas, TX, and Jeremiah Guerra of Paris, TX. He was also blessed with 4 stepchildren: Dwyna (Gary) Watson, Toya Lockett, Sedrick (Shanta) Lockett, and Kadarrius Nichols and 7 step grandchildren: Cori, Amber, Jasmine, Kiyuna, Sedrick Jr., Beth, and Alexandria. He also was cherished by 2 sister-in-laws, Sheila King of Hayward, CA and Thressa Lloyd of Garland, TX, 2 brother-in-laws, Robert Lloyd of Bossier City, LA and Vernon Jay (Dee) Walker of Dallas, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
