Rickey Charles Holloway, affectionately known as "Rick," was born on June 21, 1952, in Tyler, Texas, to James Earl

Johnson, Sr. and Jodiestine Holloway. He peacefully departed this life on June 4, 2026, at his residence in Flint,

Texas.

Rickey received his education in the Gladewater Independent School District, attending Weldon High School before

graduating with the Gladewater High School Class of 1971. Following graduation, he entered the workforce and

dedicated himself to a strong work ethic throughout his career. He was employed by Tyler Pipe Industries, King

Chevrolet, Bracken Oil, Inc. for more than 20 years, East Texas Truck Services, and later retired from East Texas

Smoker Company.

Rickey's faith was an important part of his life. He began his Christian journey at Waters Bluff CME Church in

Winona, Texas. He later became a member and served faithfully as a Deacon at Lee Springs Baptist Church in Flint,

Texas. At the time of his passing, he was a devoted member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Flint, where he

continued to serve and worship.

Throughout his life, Rickey experienced the blessings of marriage with Leona Leach-Holloway and Jacqueline

Williams-Holloway, both of whom preceded him in death. He was later married to Janice Jones, with whom he shared

a meaningful chapter of his life's journey.

A true horseman at heart, Rickey's greatest passion was raising and showing horses. He took immense pride in his

animals and was known throughout the community for having some of the fastest, smartest, and most beautiful horses

around. Friends often joked that his horses received more baths than most people. Among the many horses he raised

and loved, Comet and Diablo held a special place in his heart.

Rickey was a dedicated supporter of the horseback riding community and faithfully served as Vice President of both

the 7 C's Riding Club and the East Texas Riding Club Association of Tyler, Texas. His commitment to supporting

riding clubs and community events was unwavering. As many would say, "If nobody else showed up, Rickey would

be there."

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Earl Johnson, Sr. and Jodiestine Holloway; grandson, Jalen Holloway;

brothers, Ray High and Victor Waters; sister, Phillis Nwokorie; and former spouses, Leona Leach-Holloway and

Jacqueline Williams-Holloway.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his children: Reverend Richard Holloway of Tyler, Texas; Jason

Holloway (Tory) of Rockwall, Texas; and Larnesha Wooten (Mike) of Flint, Texas. He also leaves two stepsons,

Lamar Williams (Tammie) of Tyler, Texas, and Kevin Williams (Karen) of Whitehouse, Texas.

He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Tyler, Texas, Jacquelyn Clewis (Troy) of Winona, Texas, and

Shirley Mims (Willie Lewis) of Dallas, Texas; and his brothers, Felix Waters Jr. and Ronnie Waters (Meme), both of

Tyler, Texas, Zachery Johnson, James Johnson, Monroe Johnson, Howard Johnson, and Josh Johnson, all of Dallas,

Texas, and Eric Reed of Tyler, Texas.

Rickey's legacy lives on through his beloved grandchildren: Adonijah Holloway (Kayla) of Carrollton, Texas; Bryce

Holloway of Austin, Texas; Nakayla Holloway of Tyler, Texas; Shyla Cobb and Timothy Cobb of Rockwall, Texas;

Lamar Williams II, Jo'Neccia Williams, and Jacqueline Williams, all of Tyler, Texas; and Devin Williams and Rusty

Hawkins of Whitehouse, Texas. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Timothy "Tyger" Cobb Jr. and

Auria Elise Holloway

Rickey also leaves behind his cherished East Texas trail-riding family and countless friends throughout the riding

community whose lives were enriched by his friendship, dedication, and unwavering support. He leaves a host of

nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory, his

steadfast presence, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew and loved him.
