Obituary

Robin Cornelius Kirkland, Jr. A father, a husband, a son, a brother, and a friend. Not just to his immediate family, but to anyone who crossed his path. Most importantly, a true man of God. Robin was born in Oakdale, Louisiana on November 2, 1957 to Robin Cornelius Kirkland, Sr. and Thelma B. Kirkland. After graduating High School, he joined the Army and served for 5 years. Robin has been married to Virlean (Lofton) Kirkland (The love of his life) for 38 years. He transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home on July 11, 2021. Robin was preceded in transition by his parents Robin C. Kirkland, Sr., Thelma B. Kirkland, and his sister Reverend Equilla Kirkland Sapp. Robin had a heart so big and never met a stranger. One of Robin's favorite sayings was, "God first, family second, and work a distant third." In his younger years, Robin enjoyed playing basketball. After retiring, he enjoyed fishing, driving his boat and spending time with loved ones. He leaves to cherish his memories: Cordelia "Dee" (Kirkland) Braxton, (Kenneth), Robert L. Kirkland, Sebastian West, Robin C. Kirkland, III, Miss "Missy" Kirkland, Taylor Duncan, 2 grandchildren (Daiziah and Sean), 4 sis- in-laws, 4 bro- in-laws (that he thought of as sisters and brothers), a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, his fellow truck drivers and friends (he loved like family). Last but not least, Robin loved his pastor, Pastor Corby Bush, Sr. and his Greater Harvest Church of God In Christ family.
