Albert Charles (A.C.) Greenwood was born October 3, 1930 in Mount Pleasant, Texas to the late Edd and Bessie (Black Jenkins Coleman) Greenwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Herman Jenkins and Louis Barber, sister Bertha Virgin and his youngest son, Von Greenwood. A. C. Greenwood attended Booker T. Washington High School where he excelled in football. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in October 1945, during World War II. He married Dorothy Lee Leftwich on July 7, 1950. From this union, Vanita, Victor, Vincent and Von were born. His niece, Betty Virgin, joined the family during her high school years and was viewed as a sister to the Greenwood children. He worked many years at Lone Star Steel. During this time, he heeded the call to pastor in the Church of God in Christ (COGIC). He married Mae Dell Peoples on September 27, 1975 and Joel and Genia became part of the Greenwood family. A.C. Greenwood dedicated his life to Christ in 1952 under the pastorate of Supt. J. L. Lyons where he served until he was appointed pastor. He was pastor at the COGIC in Rock Island and Rocky Mountain. He was appointed pastor of the Bookman Temple COGIC in 1963 and was appointed pastor of the Linden COGIC where he served both congregations until April 1982. On April 7, 1982 he was appointed pastor of the First Church of God in Christ in Mount Pleasant. During this pastorate he was also appointed pastor of the Hospitality COGIC in Paris, Texas. He served Hospitality for two years, returning to full time pastorate of the First Church of God in Christ. During this time, he was appointed district superintendent of the Mount Pleasant District where he served for a period of five years, returning to full time pastorate only of the First Church. In October 2009 Supt. Greenwood resigned and entered Greenhill Villas in Mount Pleasant where he resided until his health declined. Supt. Greenwood enjoyed ministering, fellowship, listening to sermons, the news, watching football, and most importantly, prayer and the Word throughout his retirement. In his final days, Pastor Greenwood was moved to Arlington, TX, and was cared for and loved on by his family. On the morning of March 13, 2019, the Lord called Pastor Greenwood to his heavenly rest. He is survived by his children: Vanita Jackson of Boston, Victor Greenwood of Daingerfield, Vincent (Socorro) Greenwood of Kennedale, Joel Peoples of Sulphur Springs, and Luegenia (Scott) Jansen of Justin; grandchildren: Keiron (Dorothy) Greenwood, Donielle Jackson, Delphine (Jerry) Parilla, Dorthine Jackson, Kia Greenwood, Noel (Cynthia) Greenwood, Kristen Greenwood, Jamichael Greenwood, Breanna Hodges, Robert Nance III, Reginald Nance Sr., and Raven Nance; great grandchildren Christopher, Marcel and Alicia Greenwood, Jerry Parilla, Dwight and Derek McNair, Jocelyn, Reese, Taylor and Kendall Greenwood, Trinity Sanglton, Nehemiah Hodges, Reginald Nance, Jr., Khy'Ven Wallace and Kayden Nance; a great-great grandson Noah Greenwood, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
