THE MAN

Superintendent James Alvin Tudman, Sr., was born in Pittsburg, TX, on September 27, 1948, to Superintendent Harold and Missionary Fannie Tudman. He departed his earthly life on July 4, 2023.

He graduated from Booker T. Washington High (now known as Mt. Pleasant High) in 1967. He also attended Paris Junior College, taking courses in business receiving an Associate Degree.

During his high school years, Superintendent Tudman would travel with his father to run revivals and in those travels, he would often tell his mother he could hear tunes. In her opinion, she thought he just wanted to play his father's guitar. She began to listen to what he was saying and told him, "Boy, you better play a tune," because she knew his father didn't want him on his guitar. He would come in and say, "I hear another tune." "Boy, you better play a different tune," and he did. This went on and on and he became a skilled guitar player, playing for many churches, pastors, and convocations as a young man. His voice also began to develop when he was a young man in high school, and he was in a group called the Mighty Gospel 4.

THE MILITANT

After graduating from high school, he served in the United States Marine Corp, where he remained for two years, stationed in Yuma, AZ. During that time, he became the platoon leader, calling cadence for company road marches because of his golden voice; and graduated at the head of his class.

THE PREACHER

Superintendent Tudman was called to the ministry early in life. When he was a little boy, he and his siblings would visit their grandparents in the country during the summer. They would visit the Hawkins' house on Saturday evenings where he'd preach Reverend C.L. Franklin's, "The Eagle Stirred the Nest" sermon. His sister, Mae Lois, sang a solo before he preached, and they would take up an offering in a little hat. He assisted his father with White Oak C.O.G.I.C., Faith Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C., and Miracle Center C.O.G.IC. Due to the workload of these ministries combined, he was assigned to Faith Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C. by his father in 1975.

On July 8, 1990, Superintendent Tudman accepted the responsibility of being the leader for the Shiloh C.O.G.I.C. church family. He was also pastoring Deliverance Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C. and with the approval of both memberships, Superintendent Tudman consolidated the two. On July 7, 1991, Bishop Frank W. Smith, prelate of Texas Northeast Third Jurisdiction, officially installed Superintendent James A. Tudman as the Pastor of Shiloh C.O.G.I.C. in Nash, TX.

Successes of his leadership:

First year – the Lord blessed the church to purchase eight acres of land on the corner of Clark and Nixon Streets. Many had tried to purchase the property, but God kept it for Shiloh. Due to his steps being ordered by God, through fasting and praying, the name changed from Shiloh to Greater Shiloh C.O.G.I.C.

Second year– the membership tripled and the church budget increased significantly.

Third year – through many trials and tribulations, the membership yet increased.

Fourth year – plans were drawn for a new church edifice. The new church was built and paid off. On May 6, 1995, Elder Tudman ordained six deacons after prayerful teaching and training.

Titles: He held many titles in the church: Elder, Pastor, Superintendent, and 2nd Administrative Assistant. He was the Superintendent of the Fellowship Outreach District. His final elevation was 2nd Administrative Assistant, Texas Northeast Third Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, which he received on August 27, 2017.

THE MIRACLE

Even in sickness, Superintendent Tudman continued to reference God until the very day God called him home.

Superintendent Tudman was preceded in death by his father, Superintendent Harold Tudman; mother, Missionary Fannie Mae Tudman; two brothers, Reverend Harold Leon Tudman and Minister Samuel Tudman; one grandson, Jarion Tudman.

He leaves to cherish his memory and fulfill his charge; his wife of 39 years, Nell Tudman; his sons, Dr. James A. Tudman Jr. (Vo) and Bishop Joel Tudman (Latasha); his daughters, Julie Tudman-Flint (Clarence) and Keisha Philips-Ellis (Greg); his sisters, District Missionary Mae Lois Tudman White, Elizabeth Tudman Alozie, Sally Tudman Brown (Eugene), and Evelyn Tudman Madu (Robert Sr.); an uncle, Milton Cummings; 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
