THE EPITAPH OF LIFE

On Thursday, March 23, 2023, Superintendent Robert Louis Jordan Sr., faithful husband, father, Pastor, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away at the age of 81. Superintendent Robert Louis Jordan was born on December 23, 1941, to Sylvester and Mildred (Triggs) Jordan in Fort Worth, Texas. Superintendent Jordan matriculated through the Fort Worth Independent School District and graduated from historical I.M. Terrell High School. He received formal education at Prairie View A&M University and Tarrant County College. On March 17, 1962, he married the love of his life, Claudia Jo Lee and produced two handsome sons, the late Robert Louis Jordan, II and Julian LaShawn Jordan. Pastor Jordan worked at various jobs until he was employed at General Motors Corporation where he worked for 28.5 years. While at General Motor's, Pastor Jordan served as Plant Chaplain. Pastor Jordan accepted Christ as a young man under the leadership of the late Bishop John L. Johnson where he served as a deacon. As a minister of the Greater Progressive Church of God in Christ, he served as Y.P.W.W. President, Junior Pastor of the Youth Church, Pastor and Wife Anniversary Chairman. Pastor Jordan accepted the call to the ministry in 1970 and received his Minister's License in 1972. On October 24, 1976, on the late Bishop Johnson's birthday, Elder Jordan and Sis Jordan and the two sons was sent to Durham Memorial Church of God in Christ where Elder Jordan became Pastor. With his family and five members, the fire station that was converted into a church, was soon too small. Pastor Jordan and the church members begin to work on purchasing a better facility. Stepping out on faith, Pastor purchased the church that is now known as Rolling Hills Church of God in Christ. Because of his devotion and dedication to God and the ministry, Pastor Jordan was appointed District Sunday School Superintendent and served on the Finance Committee in the Fort Worth District under the leadership of the late Bishop J.L. Johnson. Because of his faithful service, he was soon recognized in Texas Northeast and was appointed State Sunday School Superintendent, by the late Bishop J. Neaul Haynes. He served in that position until his health began to fail. Superintendent Jordan was always active in the community where he served as Pastor. His focus centered on families both in the church and in the community. He took personal time to give council to young people and advocate for higher education and self-improvement. In 2007, Rolling Hills Christian Academy was established, serving the community for fourteen years.

Matthew 25:23Superintendent Jordan was preceded in death by his son, Robert Louis Jordan II, his sisters Mary Louise Jordan-Bonner, and Beverly Jean Jordan-Reed, his brother, Samuel Jordan, his father Sylvester Jordan, his mother, Mildred Triggs-Jordan. Superintendent Jordan leaves to cherish 61 years of precious memories, the love of his life, Claudia Lee Jordan, one son, Julian LaShaun Jordan, my daughter in marriage Lisa Parker-Jordan, a nephew/son Willie Coaster II, five grandsons, Quintin Jordan (BrenShavia), Robert Jordan III (Bria), Zachary Jordan, Julian Jordan jr., Amare' Jordan, one granddaughter Charity Harris (Lucious), three great-grandsons Josiah, Lucious, Kobe, two great-granddaughters, Heiress, Aaliyah, his sisters, Sharon Allen (Don), Lavon St. Julian (Charles), Sylvia Newman (Isiah), Elder Vanessa Isaac, Rosiland Meeks (Weldon), Lalesia Jordan (sister-in-law), seven sister-in-laws, Mary Rigsby, Missionary Doris Hawkins, Ann Lee, Evangelist Ella Coaster, Delesia Washington, Deborah Tutt (Richard), Evangelist Trecina Hutchins (Leon); and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
