Tommie Lee Reasonover was born to Tom Milton Reasonover and Kathrine Hodge on October 8, 1937, in Blossom, Texas. Family and friends often referred to him by his nickname "Bo" or "Bo Peep". He was "Papa" to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He often called family and friends by a nickname he personally gave them. He would warmly greet them with it whenever he saw them. He was a man of pride, dignity, style, and discrete strength. Always present with kind words and great advice based on wisdom and life experiences. He loved us, and we all loved and adored him. He served in the United States Navy, and was stationed in Pearl Harbor and Okinawa, Japan. After his military service, he made Amarillo his home and married Jean Evon Scott. In 1991, he married Sandra Malone Reasonover. During his early years in Amarillo, he worked for Rock Island Railroad, and was the first man of color to work west of Mississippi as a Brakeman at Rock Island Railroad. After working for 27 years, he retired as a Switchman from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. After retirement, he worked for 15 years at San Jacinto Christian Academy. To say he was an avid golfer would be an understatement. He was a self-taught golf aficionado. You would often find him at Ross Rogers Golf Course with his favorite pipe tucked between his lips. He played there daily for over 25 years. He played many years in the Annual Ross Rogers Budweiser Partnership Golf Tournament. If he was not playing golf you could find him practicing at North Heights Park (originally Bones Hooks Park), trying to perfect his short game and every Harvey Penick "Little Red Book" tip. His golf motto was "Drive for show, putt for dough ...$$$." If he was not playing or practicing, he was rebuilding an old set of golf clubs or building a new putter while watching the Golf Channel. Forever a student of the game and always trying to pick up a new skill to shave a couple of strokes off of his game. His favorite golfers were Charlie Sifford, Calvin Peete, Jack Nicklaus, Jim Thorpe, and of course Tiger Woods. In 2016, he was named a Lifetime Honorary Member of the Pride of Panhandle Golf Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Lovejoy and Deloise Davis; and brothers, Billie Joe Reasonover, Alfred Johnson, and Jimmie Neal. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sandra Malone Reasonover; his sister, Jean Washington; great-aunt and great-uncle, Maxine Harrison and Douglas Reasonover of Paris, Texas; children, Floyd Scott, Tommie Lee Reasonover, Jr., Tonia Reasonover, Scotty (Pollett) Reasonover of Pflugerville, Texas, Russell (Sheila) Reasonover of Dallas, Texas, Shevonna Reasonover, Adrienne Malone and Roshonda Guest of Desoto, Texas, Paula Ford, and Katrina (Elbert) Myles of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
