Werner Jakob Eisen 88 Born in 1932 in Reutlingen, Germany – Passed away on February 17, 2020 at UT Health East Texas Hospital. Residing most recently at Mount Pleasant Assisted Living, he lived for many years in Mount Vernon on the Bavaria Farm acreage and before that in Paris and Dallas. While born in Germany, Werner spent most of his youth with his 4 siblings in Austria during WWII. When the war ended, he and his mother and siblings started the voyage back to Germany, a journey that took many more months than anticipated and was quite arduous. After the war, Werner served an apprenticeship in a flour mill and then immigrated to Canada at the age of 22 where he and his two brothers worked in construction. After several years, he moved to Dallas, TX and continued his construction career. He lived for a short time in Paris, TX and then moved to Mount Vernon where he spent many years managing the Bavaria Farm. Werner loved animals and living in the country – he provided a sanctuary for more than a dozen quarter horses and cared for and fed his own as well as many wild dogs over the years. He was passionate about dancing and especially family; his vacations were almost exclusively to visit family. Most of all, Werner will be remembered for his positive approach to life no matter what he was dealing with. He always had a smile and kind words for his friends and family; he loved to tell jokes and had an infectious laugh. He will be dearly missed by many. Werner was preceded in death by his brother Edgar Eisen, niece Bridget Eisen and his dear friend Anne Belk. He is survived by siblings Wolfgang (Bilge) Eisen, Renate Hoerner and Rita Kemp; nieces and nephews Susan (John Lea) Eisen-Lea, Jennifer (Mark Mickleborough) Eisen, Gregory (Cindy) Eisen, Julie (D.C.) Carter, Brigitta Kemp Faust, Monica (Kent Jones) Kemp, Michael Kemp; many grand nieces and nephews; and his special Pumpkin - Tammy Belk. Special thanks for the staff at Mount Pleasant Assisted Living for their wonderful support of and friendship to Werner, and to the hospital staff at UT Health East Texas for their compassionate end-of-life.
