Mrs. Willie Syble (Howard) Coffey was born July 10, 1926 to the parentage of Will and Victoria (Jones) Howard. She was the fourth of eight children-- Vernon Lee, Ola Mae, Lillie Rose, Clifford, Truelove, Lawrence Wesley, and Earl Dean. She and her siblings had a very close-knit relationship. She and her sister, Truelove, were so close that they completed each other's sentences! They spent the night with each other for nearly (40) years, ensuring neither would be home alone. She was born in Daingerfield, TX, and later moved to Omaha, TX. She met and married the love of her life, Robert T. Coffey, Sr. He preceded her in death in 1971. They became parents to Regena, Ruthye and Robert Jr., and reared their children in Omaha, TX. Mrs. Coffey heard the voice of Jesus at a very young age, and answered the call to serve Christ. She was faithful to her Lord, and to the Omaha Church of Christ until she relocated in 2017 to Windsor Village Nursing Facility in Daingerfield, TX. She loved going to church, and encouraged and invited family and others to be faithful churchgoers. She began to worship at Daingerfield Church of Christ. She was faithful in attendance until the temporary closing due to the Pandemic of 2020. Due to declining health, she was unable to return to her beloved place of worship. "Some memories are unforgettable, remaining ever vivid and heartwarming." Mrs. Coffey was known for her quips and stern hand, executing discipline when needed. Her treasured large circle of nieces and nephews have repeatedly shared hilarious stories of their rearing at her hand. She was a great cook, making the best homemade dressing in East Texas! Her sweet potato pies, peach cobblers, and blackberry cobblers were all family favorites. Her favorite role was that of grandmother. She embraced her grandchildren, and had a hand in rearing each of them, a few of them from a distance. She did her best to impart life-long attributes in each of them – never missing a chance to tell them to love one another, to be good, to love God, and to go to church! She was entwined in the Windsor Village family, becoming close friends with nurses and caregivers. Even being cared for there by two of her nieces who are nurses, Mary and Jackie. This made her especially happy to be able to carry on her relationship with them. She enjoyed phone calls and visits from family, and visiting with family on special occasions. She loved attending church with her nurse and good friend, Laura Lily. She looked forward to her trips to the store and rides around town with her nurse and friend, Hillary Neely. Her beloved children and their spouses survive her: Regena (Dennis Sr.) Allen of Omaha, TX, Ruthye (Cary) Rice and Robert Jr. (Bonita), all of Denton, TX. Her sister, Truelove McNarry. Her nine grandchildren: Kevin (Candace) Allen; Dennis (Gina) Allen II; Cory (Kathryn) Rice; Robert (Sharday Collins) Coffey; Taylor Rice; Brittney White; Nicholas (Sonja) White, and Ryan (Taylor) White. Her granddaughter, Melanie, in 1988, preceded her in death. Her 13 great-grandchildren: Ariana, Vanasha, Trae, Sophia, Natalya, Domonic, Camryn, Kobe, Kaya, Jayden, Sydney, Noah, and Romeo. Her two great-great grandchildren: Ryann and Bella. A host of nieces and nephews, cousins, very dear friends, and a loving church family. Very special thanks to Misty Williams and the staff, nurses, cooks, custodians and caregivers of Windsor Village.
