Obituary

It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Wilma Cheryl Mayer. A remarkably strong and brave soul, Wilma, aged 66, from Hughes Springs, Texas, departed this life on December 26, 2023, at Titus Regional Medical Center in Mount Pleasant, Texas.

Wilma was a California native, born to Marie and Richard Curtice. Her life was a testament to resilience, love, and unyielding strength. She is survived by her beloved boyfriend, Ron Bacak; her devoted children, Alex Worrell, Raymond Mayer and his fiancée Nikki Johnson, Dennis Mayer and his wife Kathryn, and Desiree Pechar and her boyfriend Isaac Luna. Wilma's love knew no bounds, especially for her cherished grandchildren Noel, Trinity, Jade, Elizabeth, Aiden, Logan, Tristan, Kaitlyn, Gavin, Nathaniel, and Gabriel.

Her memory will also be forever held in the hearts of her brother, Paul Curtice and his wife Renee; her sisters, Linda Haggerty and her husband Brian Haggerty, Julie Bass, and her husband Sean; and her adoring nieces and nephews. Wilma was predeceased by her mother, Marie Curtice, her father, Richard Curtice, her brother Richard Curtice, and her grandmother Ruth Vanschoonhoven.

Wilma's zest for life was unparalleled. She relished in woodworking, crafting, cooking, and was a dedicated volunteer at the VFW and Moose Lodge in Oregon. Known as the life of every party, her spirit was infectious. Wilma was the epitome of courage; she never showed worry or fear. Her strength was her gift to those around her, always there in times of need, from driving loved ones to medical appointments to offering a comforting presence and a reassuring smile.

Details for her Celebration of Life will be forthcoming. We anticipate that it will take place in Oregon, a state dear to Wilma's heart.

In honoring Wilma's generous spirit, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be considered for a cause close to her heart Fundraiser by Raymond Mayer : Wilma Cheryl Mayer.

Wilma's legacy of love, bravery, and unshakeable strength will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. She has left an indelible mark on our hearts, and while she may be gone from our sight, her spirit will live on forever.
