Obituary

Zora was born and raised in Mount Pleasant, Texas on July 3, 1932 to the parents of Aquila and Izora Ivory Green. At an early age she attended St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Wright. It is here, where she gained all of her knowledge about her Christian lifestyle. Later in her life she continued to serve the Lord by joining Mt. Gilmore Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Herbert Jones. At Mt. Gilmore, Zora loved to attend Sunday school and sing gospel hymns during Invitations to Christ ceremony. Zora was a faithful member until her health began to decline. In her past times, Zora enjoyed going to church and singing old gospel hymns. She worked as a sharecropper and turned that knowledge into a passion for gardening in her backyard. She gardened until the age of 82 when her health left her unable to continue. Zora also enjoyed making quilts, homemade preservatives, baking goods from scratch and fishing. Zora is preceded in death by her husband John Lewis Wilkerson, Sr., (parents) Aquila and Izora Ivory Green; (Sons) Min.
